About Procedures for Men
We provide many procedures that treat conditions specific to men.
Treatment for enlarged prostate and varicoceles are two of the minimally invasive, non-surgical procedures for males that are performed by RIA Endovascular physicians.
Minimally invasive means the procedure does not involve surgery. These procedures are performed by an RIA Endovascular interventional radiologist using image-guided techniques in a special angiography suite in a hospital outpatient setting. Typically mild IV sedation and local anesthesia are used, rather than general anesthesia.
Treatment for Enlarged Prostate
Also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), Prostate Artery Embolization is a minimally invasive alternative to the surgical procedure called transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). TURP is a type of prostate surgery performed to relieve moderate to severe urinary symptoms called by an enlarged prostate. This procedure has recently been approved as standard of care by the FDA.
Treatment for Varicoceles
Varicocele Embolization is a highly effective procedure with excellent treatment outcomes for dilated veins in the scrotum around the testicle. The treatment is as effective as surgery with less risk, less pain and a significantly shorter recovery period. Varicocele embolization is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure performed in an outpatient hospital setting.
