Patient Stories: A wound that won’t heal
Patient Linda D. shares her story:
In January of 2016 I had a small scratch on the inside of my ankle. I tried several things to mend the wound. I went to a couple of other physicians at a different facility, but they only gave me topical treatments that simply did not work.
The wound continued to grow and became extremely painful. I found myself crying in pain. Over the counter medications and pain meds were the only options I was given and this plan was not working at all for me.
In early 2018 I started to get septic from the wound. I was going to a wound care clinic that sent me to RIA Endovascular. This is where I first met Dr. Todd Kooy.
I started seeing improvement within a few weeks of the vein ablation procedure. The drainage started decreasing. My pain level went from a 9 out of 10 to a 2 out of 10.
The doctor and clinic staff are fabulous. Dr. Kooy explained everything up front. There were no surprises. I was not fearful. The RIA Endovascular clinic is super friendly and always helpful.
If you have a non-healing wound seek help. There is a follow up plan in place for me, relieving any apprehensions, which is unlike what I’ve had with previous providers.
